Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a selection of frequently asked questions. They may help you if you’re thinking about booking us for a party.

Can you take music requests on the night?

Yes, I encourage your guests to get involved (unless you do not want this). Even with meticulous music planning and selection, there can always be a last minute request or some spark of inspiration that leads to that perfect tune being dropped in.

Can we tell you our must have songs in advance?

Yes please. We recommend you inform us of all your special songs and must have tracks to ensure these are included on the night. We want to make sure the music is perfect for your celebration.

Can we use your microphone for announcements?

We always come prepared with an additional microphone for announcements. Due to Covid19, strict measures are in place to ensure any microphones used by previous clients are cleaned thoroughly before any new booking.

How long do you need to set up and pack down?

I usually allow one hour for my DJ equipment to be safely setup and packed down. Additional mood uplighting, starlit dancefloors and such will take a great deal longer to set up, but these items can often be in place earlier on in the day, or even the previous day – but we’re happy to discuss the finer logistics of this with you at the planning stage.

What are your payment terms?

Full Payment or any balance owed to be paid 1 week prior to your event please.

How far will you travel for a gig?

Serenade operates in and around Berkshire.

If an event is further afield we will be happy to accommodate this, but additional charges may apply to cover an overnight stay, for example and mileage.

What is the average disco length?

7pm- 12am for an evening party but we can flexible if there’s a need. Some venues work until 1am however there will be an additional hourly charge to cover this.

Can you liaise with the venue directly?

Absolutely, we often contact venues to understand the logistics required and to make sure everything runs smoothly.

If you’re un-available can you recommend any DJ’s?

Serenade have been in the industry for many years and along the way we’ve met some talented DJ’s which we can highly recommend.

Can we meet you before we book you?

Yes, of course. We love meeting our clients before their big event especially if we’re playing a pivotal role in your wedding day. It’s nice to meet in advance so we can get to know each other but also to make sure we cover all aspects of the day.

Is your equipment safe?

Yes. By using only the finest professional equipment, and having this regularly serviced, cleaned and looked after, I can guarantee that I have done everything to ensure safety for you and your guests. Regular PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) is carried out at frequent intervals to give you and the venue ‘peace of mind’.

Certificates are available in printed or electronic formats. Your venue will often insist on seeing these documents before the date of your event.

Do you cover all musical genres?

Yes, my collection of music has been growing at a steady rate for over 35 years, and covers everything from all the genres of the musical spectrum.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?

The venue you have chosen for your big day will only work with professional wedding suppliers and will insist that appropriate insurance is in place. Public Liability Indemnity insurance (PLI) documentation must be available on demand. My insurance covers up to £10,000,000 and I will automatically send my up-to-date documents to your wedding venue well in advance.

How soon do I need to book you?

As soon as possible!

Some popular dates are booked up 2 years in advance! Even if your event is not far off, and you’ve not booked your entertainment yet, please get in touch as I may still have some availability.

When the booking process is complete you can be assured that the wheels are in motion for an amazing celebration you can really start looking forward to.

Is our equipment of a professional standard?

Yes. Only trusted, professional sound and lighting equipment, that’s been designed and built for road use. This equipment is very expensive but also very reliable and provides the best sound and visual experience.
